Greetings from the farm, It has been an exciting, engaging, inspirational, and busy start to the new year within the Traditional Guild and the Husflidsrom! As a member, I hope you are settling into this offering, our in-depth focus and study and the many traditional activities we are exploring in fellowship. I am looking forward to our January guild meeting on Sunday! Following the old farm wheel calendar, connected to our guild, and our traditional handwork aims, February finds us planning for our traditional påske plagg (Easter garment), the påske ferie, (holiday) and the return of the sun! We head a bit south in Norway, up into the mountains and to the fjords, as is tradition, during this season of making --- as we create this beautiful traditional garment! Although this garment is presented as a kofte, we will be exploring and studying garment construction, in more depth, modifying to create a genser - with interest. Additionally, we will elevate this piece, based on a regional Trøndelag/Selbu approach - especially within the finishing/montering phase, but more specifically with a focus on the advanced approach to the knitting of the neckline. This beautiful, old Selburose, is the star, and shines within this timeless piece! As we turn back toward the sun, day by day... Deep winter begins to let go of its cold, frozen grasp and the melting begins! We look forward to late winter and spring time on the farm! Som vi gleder oss! Warmest regards from the farm, Patricia
