Hi Jackie-Thanks for your answer. I'm talking about transitioning from the cuff to the pattern before I start to do my thumb increases. I'm just used to dividing on magic loop with relatively even stitches. I was thinking that I'd have to have the stolpe stitches at the end of each needle. I honestly haven't touched my mittens in a week and haven't even been able to finish watching the week three videos so I'm very behind. I was going to try again today after reading your comment and hopefully make some progress.
I am at the point of putting my thumb on a holder. The patter, pg 283, flower pot, tells me to put 17 stitches on holder and pick up 12. 17 Stitches take up the bar pattern but does not give me enough stitches to knit the bar. You may have answered this already but I haven’t found the answer. Thanks for helping, love the class! Annie
Just reached the end of the thumb gusset. Now I am thinking of doing it a little differently 😇
As I know the cast on method, I would like to try knitting a contrasting bit of yarn in and shift the stitches to the left needle to knit the following stitches in pattern just over it. The contrasting yarn can easily be removed afterwards. Wasn't that a historic method too?
Sounds very easy and I guess I'll try that....🤔
Hi Jackie - I know what you mean by it being mildly annoying. The pattern I’m working on for this course doesn’t have a noticeable centre stitch in the cuff pattern, but previous mittens I’ve made have often not lined up exactly. Hurts my linear brain!! :)
Thank you Jackie! Normally it would bother me having it off by a stitch- enough that I would actually move the hand over to where it would need to be. It isn’t nearly as noticeable with the dark background and just one stitch. Your pattern is really similar to mine but different enough that I’d like to make that one too!
