Traditional Selbu Sock Course

Updated: Jan 14, 2021

I am so excited and so pleased to be able to offer my Traditional Selbu Sock Festival Course within my Virtual Classroom during late Autumn/EarlyWinter!

My Traditional Selbu Sock Course has been a popular course for me, which I have taught in person here within Norway many times.

The course will begin on Saturday, October 24th and continue through until Sunday, November 22nd.

The course includes a beautiful Traditional Selbu Sock pattern. The cost of the pattern is included within the registration price.

In this way, everyone will be knitting the same traditional pattern during the course.

You will receive:

  • 1 traditional Selbu Sock pattern (see note below)

  • 4 weeks of facilitation and support

  • the course outline

  • weekly course notes

  • meaningful video tutorials and weekly instruction

  • meaningful weekly practice assignments

  • Live ZOOM check-ins

  • KAL (knit a-long) Community

  • a finishing course

  • a Selbu Sock Parade Celebration and Prize Drawings

  • follow up after the course for the knitting of the second sock

During September all particpants will receive a materials list or the possiblity to buy a 100% Norwegian wool yarn kit within my farm shop to prepare in advance.

There will be free prepartory videos to support you as you prepare, in advance, for the course start.

More information is coming soon!

Selbu Sock Pattern: The Selbu Sock pattern that I will use for this course is a traditional, historic pattern from this region of Selbu, in which I live. I have updated the original pattern for use by modern knitters. It has an all over Selburose pattern, with a traditional heel...which includes a "hilsen" or secret message on the botton of the foot and a traditional Norwegian rounded toe. I will be revealing the updated pattern here on my BLOG very soon!

In previous "in-person" courses, I have used a historic pattern - but have decided during the last months to rewrite and refresh the pattern to launch for this online course.

You will receive a digital download of the pattern in pdf format via email or by downloading the pattern from my farm shop using a participant coupon code.

Early registration is now OPEN! - $32 US dollars for the course and $8 US dollars for the Tradtional Selbu Sock Pattern. This is $8 US dollars per week, plus the cost of the pattern.

Patricia,

If only I could convey how happy I am to see you offering these treasured courses, and that you also offer support material / supplies . . . it makes my heart sing and rejoice ! Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge which is so in depth and includes the finer points of techniques etc. In the way that there is sewing, and then there is - Heirloom Sewing . . . to me, the knitting of these fine and historic intricate works of art are a calling which I have longed for for probably 50 years now at this point - and to finally see the possibility to really learn and understand and practice corre…

What a temptation! Based on what I have learned so far in the mitten course I know how valuable this course will be! Trying to figure out if I will have time with all of the holiday projects I have planned!
