Zoom-mas Follow up! 4th Sunday

Updated: Jan 14, 2021

Hello everyone!

I want to just begin by expressing my appreciation to you for a wonderful Zoom-mas!

Whether you joined once or each week during Advent...Thank you for making this time of year extra special - for me and for my family.

We all experienced such joy from sharing our Advent traditions with you!

I hope it brought you some comfort and happiness.

This week we lit the fourth candle for peace on Earth for all people (fred) and we let the candles burn completely down.

Beginning on the 23rd, we will only burn red candles for Christmas.

Today is the Winter Solstice!

The day we long for here in the North.

Now we begin to turn back toward the sun!

Jul = the wheel...turning toward the sun.

This fourth Sunday in Advent...we really believe that turning toward the sun and the wonder of the North star is a time when the heaven and the earth meet and are one!

This beautiful song is about just that!

Here is the song about the star that shines at night and peace on earth:

He is a link that I found to help you fold the accordion paper stars here in Scandinavia...another holiday workshop we had here at home together.

At the same time, I wanted to share the TRUE Norwegian folded paper star!

I haven't tried this one this year...but my husband and my children are masters at this.

They learn this one in school.

I would venture to say that you would see this star in Norway more than the accordian paper star.

I shared two more cookies with you!

Fattigman (poor man cookie)

Sandkaker (sand cookie)

I also shared the traditional celebration cake...for weddings, christmas and very special occasions. They pictures they show are not traditional...these cakes must have the Norwegian flag on them!

Here is the song after we have washed the house and brought in the wood and ready to settle in to decortate our tree on the 23rd:

Here is the song for dancing around the Christmas tree:

Here are the bells ringing and the Choir singing to begin the Christmas all over Norway!

Here is another Christmas in Trondheim Cathedral with my son's boys Choir at Christmas.

They sing all of our Christmas songs.

Enjoy!

I probably have forgotten something.

Please do let me know!

God jul og Godt nytt år!

If you are joining the Knitting Bag Book Course, I will join you again on December 26th!

Otherwise our next Zoom Check in Clinic will be on

January 3rd or 6th

UPDATE: Another favourite concert!

Warmest regards from the farm,

Patricia x

Hi Patricia,

Thank you for the pleasure of Zoom-mas.

It was such a highlight for me this Christmas Season,

and I enjoyed sharing some of the customs and traditions

with my mother, and a few neighbors.

Thank you also for compiling the wonderful Zoom-mas follow-ups.

How I enjoyed listening to the choirs and music this evening.

And looking into the possibility of how to make the two different paper stars.

I hope to one day be able to make a gluten free cookie from the

recipes you shared (heavy on the substitution of ingredients).

Merry Christmas to you and your family and the sweet little sheep too !

Smiles,

Kristine

Enjoyed our Zoom Mas meetings so much and wanted to thank you so much for sharing your Advent traditions with us. Someone on the Zoom Mas yesterday asked if you will still honor the discount code for your Shepherd Mittens and yarn kit? I am very interested in ordering both. Please let me know.
