I’m only through Lesson 1 and I am loving this course! I really like how Patricia thoughtfully and carefully explains each and every thing. I am definitely sold on gauging for stranded knitting this way!

Hi Patricia, I just signed up and am starting the course, and am really looking forward to it.

In the video for lesson 1, you mentioned that you would put a link to a Youtube video on gauge in the notes. Where do I look to find this? Thank you so much, Claudia

I just found the link within the text of the blog. It’s in the third or fourth paragraph depending on how you count the paragraphs.

Hi Patricia,

I have a question about the swatch lesson in Lesson 1. I understand the formula you used to determine the number of stitches to cast on for swatching in the round, not the quick swatch method. After knitting the garter stitch border are there 6 stitches on either side of the swatch ( those 12 extra stitches) , with the chart in-between? Maybe I am missing something in your explanation but need some clarification.

Thank you

Then you only need to cast on the number of stitches for the chart twice. No stabilizing stitches are needed.

Hello Patricia and everyone!

I have just registered to the course and the videos and instructions are very clear and well structured, so congratulations!

Indeed, in relation to gauge, probably is one of the most important steps that many knitters avoid or is misunderstood. I have made important errors in this area and I realised that in many projects I have not got gauge (I had a dramatic experience with a sweater due to the gauge).

So this time I would like to start from the beginning and knit the swatch with calm and counting the stitches properly!

Kind regards from Germany.

I find it very interesting that here in the US yarn doesn't often list gauge, just yarn weight (lace, fingering, etc) except commercial yarn, which is usually acrylics. In my experience so far anyway.

I do not have any experience with this...but here in Norway, everything is by gauge! We do not these words for yarn...fingering, lace, DK... as I shared.

Gauge is, after all, the most important thing!
