The goal of our Adopt a Sheep program is to preserve the heritage of the Grå Trønder sheep, living within the region of Selbu in Sør Trøndelag, Norway.

In joining our Adopt a Sheep project, you will be supporting the day to day growing of wool, all the way, to the milling of the yarns.

The yarns we aim to create were the first used to knit the traditional Selbuvotter mittens. These mittens were first designed by Marit Emstad (1897) right here in the fields and region of Norway in which we have our farm and raise our own Grå Trøndersau flock.

Your sponsorship will also be supporting a working family farm and homestead where we create many organic farm products.

The aims of my farm project can be found here: Knitography Farm.

I simply wish to grow the wool from this local heriatage breed of sheep in order to revive and promote these traditional yarns and get them into the hands of knitters around the world.

I also wish to increase the population of our own flock and return their presence to the landscape and region in which they were first bred, for future generations.

If you wish to remotely Adopt a Sheep and support our work here on our little farm, you will have the opportunity to follow the lives of the sheep throughout the seasons.

You’ll get a behind the scenes look at a working sustainable farm and homestead.

We will communicate updates with you through social media, your email inbox and handmade Adopt a Sheep farm items, which will be sent directly to you, as gratitude for your support of our work here on the farm.

UPDATE: Summer 2019 - Due to the increasingly long waiting list for my "Little Woollen Farm Sculptures" I have had to adjust the Adopt a Sheep program to include samples of Grå Trøndersau yarn to replace the sculpture offer. I am simply physically unable to keep up with the demand of creating the sculptures. Thank you for understanding!
