Thank you for the lesson about washing and blocking. I was able to obtain some of the wool wash from Chickenwood Studio. It is an excellent product. I learned so much about the washing, caring and blocking of the mittens.
Here are my Selbu Mittens all done, washed and blocked.
dry . they really have a nice shape . the blockers really made a difference .
the edging is a Latvian picot edge . . . where you see the one blue stitch within each pink picot stitch . . . and the blue lines the inside cuff for about 1/4 inch .
I used a little olive oil to treat my blockers and it worked great! Only used a few drops rubbed into my hands and then rubbed it onto the blockers. I think my mittens will be dry enough to weave in the ends tomorrow. So exciting. (Also, got my yarn for the sock class in today's mail - this is very happy mail indeed!!)
in case it helps anyone to dry their mittens . . . when I read Patricia's instructions not to keep them on the towel but get some air flow to them . . . I took a vintage dish drainer and turned it upside down and placed the mittens on top of it to finish the very last bit of drying overnight.
