Kristine - Your pattern is not a traditional Selbu Mitten.
It is in the Selbu style.
You do not have a stolpe at all within the pattern. You have edge stitches which end at row 45. You will decrease up to the last 2 stitches, just as the chart shows, break the yarn and draw it through those two stitches.
tuppen accomplished .
here is a picture using a center double decrease - slip 1 p wise, k2tog, psso.
for the final stitch on the palm and also the back of the hand.
i was still confused . . . until i tried this.
? is this decrease correct for the Selbu 'style' mitten i'm knitting ?
thank you,
Kristine
Hi Patricia
Here is an update on my tup.
It seemed doable to work chart until two stitches we’re left
and end with last two stitches . . .
except once again it looked like I was building confusion
with an array of tepee configuration of dpn’s and not making sense
with the decreases colors and stitch count and slants.
so instead I tried a double decrease of slip 1, k2 tog, psso and it worked
beautifully to my surprise 🥰 I mean I was shocked ! Lol
That decrease was worked once on palm, and once on back of hand in the respective color.
knitting techniques are truly a marvel.
thank you for your words…
Thank you Patricia for explaining all that to me about my pattern.
As I was knitting the mittens, I was confused about the elements in the pattern,
and was trying to make sense of them but couldn't.
Now I understand fully and I am very very thankful.
And I will write those points you explained to me in
the Knitting Bag Book to reflect on and learn.
Smiles,
Kristine

Hello everyone. I am stuck. at the tup of the tuppen. smiles.
I just un-knit the tip of one and took it back a few rounds, then knit it back
up where i have 6 total stitches and am next to work on the last round with
only two stitches showing on the chart.
Attached is the picture of chart for one of the mittens.
? Do I just thread thru the 6 sts on the second to last round ?
as the two sides of mitten each have 3 sts . . .
? or how do I work that last round ? I would end with 2 total stitches - break yarn
then draw the yarn thru 2…
