Autumn Traditional garment Course offering - The Trøndelag version of the Stølsvatn kofte!

Greetings from the farm,

A bit more information around our traditional Norwegian garment course offering for early fall.

Perfect for beginners interested in furthering their journey, after taking my basic stranded Norwegian knitting course.

I will also expand this demonstration piece for more experienced traditional knitters. Specifically focusing on how to "add" intermediate and advanced techniques to a beginner piece.

NB! If you have participated in my previous kofte courses...the CYOP course etc.

You have the unique possibility to choose any top down (bærestykket) kofte piece within the Kofteboken to follow along with this course.

Please contact me directly with your choice and I will confirm directly with you.

Above is a photograph of the Trøndelag version of the Stølsvatn kofte.

It includes colours representing the fjord, the fields, the forest and the mountains.

The only changes that I will be making to these colours, is within the bolen (or body) of the kofte.

I want the bolen to reflect the soft grey of the regional linen found within the traditional folk costume apron (bunad).

Pictured here in pure natural wool.

Digging into the archive, I have sourced the original knapper (below).

This is a very special type of traditional button, as they are hand cast and hand sanded - created using traditional techniques by local silversmiths.

These knapper (buttons) reflect the history of the traditional rose found within its center.

The Trondheim rose!

This is the original 1960s version of the Stølsvatn kofte from the archive....found in only one size for women and one size for men.

It includes one of the oldest Selburoser historically.

This kofte is considered an "everyday" traditional garment.

Maybe you want to add "lus" to the body?

I will be happy to support you with that technique.

Below are photos from Kofteboken 2 and the modern restoration of this design.

The original design was an intermediate bottom up approach, now restored to a beginner, top down piece.

This kofte will be beautiful in many different colour palettes, as long as they are well balanced and harmonious.

Welcome to our Knitography Farm Community Check-in this evening.

I will share additional information and answer any wonders that have arisen.

(See previous post to register your participation)

Warmest regards from the farm,

Patricia x
